A series of upgrades have been unveiled at Sutter Health Park as the stadium prepares for its first season as the home of Major League Baseball’s Athletics.

The A’s are spending three seasons at the Sacramento facility while the team builds a new 33,000-capacity ballpark in Las Vegas. The team left Oakland last year after a 57-year stay at the Coliseum.

Sutter Health Park, which also serves as the home of Minor League Baseball outfit the Sacramento River Cats, has undergone major upgrades to enhance the fan experience, improve game-day technology, and provide “robust” player amenities.

The stadium is replacing its previous video board with a “state-of-the-art” experience featuring a 75-inch by 32-inch main display. Located in the right-centre field, the new board has nearly twice the resolution of the previous display.

All displays will be powered by Ross XPression CMS, allowing for real-time graphics updates that transition between A’s and River Cats branding. Additional video enhancements include a ribbon board, a new backstop LED display, and a full digital menu board programme across all concession stands.

AirPAT technology has also been installed to enhance the stadium’s playing surface. It is hoped the upgrades will optimise root zone oxygenation, improve moisture management and regulate subsurface temperatures.

Other field enhancements include the integration of drone monitoring, infrared scanning, and infield moisture sensors that can provide real-time data on turf health, moisture levels and nutrient distribution.

Sutter Health Park has also implemented major network upgrades to enhance Wi-Fi connectivity, while the stadium’s clubhouse will feature advanced training and recovery facilities.

A dedicated hitting tunnel for the A’s will also be available, along with a weight room for visiting MLB teams, coach locker rooms, and training room space. The dugouts will also be expanded to accommodate MLB and MiLB teams.

Additionally, a new premium club area known as The Rooftop will open, offering space for up to 130 guests. The Diamond View Dugout has been upgraded with new seating, in-seat service and exclusive comfort essentials, while the Jackson Rancheria Legacy Club and Sky River Casino Club have been redesigned with premium seating, upgraded bars and more.

The Gilt-Edge Club, an open-air hospitality space on the main concourse featuring new drink rails, barstool seating, high-powered ceiling fans and modern furniture, will also open.

The A’s will debut at Sutter Health Park on March 31 with the first of three games against the Chicago Cubs.
