The Jockey Club has announced Jim Mullen as its new group chief executive.

Mullen (pictured centre) joins from Reach, the commercial news publisher in the UK and Ireland, where he has served as chief executive since 2019. He will succeed Charlie Boss, who has been serving as interim group chief executive of The Jockey Club since November.

Boss has held the role on an interim basis following Nevin Truesdale’s decision to step down at the end of last year. Mullen will begin his new role on June 1.

Mullen, a horseracing fan and racehorse owner, was group chief executive of Ladbrokes Coral Group between March 2015 and March 2018, and previously served as managing director of Ladbrokes Digital and chief operating officer of William Hill Online.

Major League Soccer team Chicago Fire has appointed Ted Glick as its chief ticketing officer and senior vice-president of stadium programming and events.

Glick (pictured left) most recently served as senior vice-president of global sales for Legends, where he led all premium sales strategy and execution for the company’s Spain and Portugal business, based in Madrid. At Legends, he led the sales strategy, consulting and execution efforts for FC Barcelona’s revamped Spotify Camp Nou.

Glick begins his new role tomorrow (Tuesday) and will report to the Fire’s president of business operations, Dave Baldwin. His position will see him play a key role in leading hospitality efforts and event programming at any future new stadium for the team. Fire owner Joe Mansueto revealed in October that the club was exploring plans for a new stadium in the city.

UK & Ireland 2028 Limited, the company responsible for the local delivery of UEFA Euro 2028, has begun operations and confirmed its board.

The delivery company incorporates the five UK and Ireland football associations and is tasked with organising the tournament in line with the UEFA hosting agreement.

Debbie Hewitt, chair of the English FA, will chair the board, while Chris Bryant will serve as managing director. Bryant was formerly head of the UK and Ireland’s successful joint bid to host the tournament and led the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 event in England.

The board will also include Mark Bullingham, David Courell, Ian Maxwell and Noel Mooney, the respective chief executives of the English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh FAs.

Legends and ASM Global have jointly announced that Kristofer Åkesson has joined the team as marketing and communications director for the Nordic region.

Åkesson (pictured right) will join the company’s Nordics management team and will be responsible for marketing, communications and PR strategy for a venue portfolio that includes Sweden’s Avicii Arena, Strawberry Arena and 3Arena, and Finland’s Kulttuuritalo.

Åkesson previously spent almost a decade at Live Nation Sweden as head of PR, and marketing and communications director. He has since worked as a communications consultant for leading businesses within technology, finance and investment, as well as media and entertainment.
