The Tennessee Titans’ new stadium remains on track to be ready by February 2027, as the NFL team provided an update on the project one year into construction.

The Titans hosted a media tour of New Nissan Stadium on Monday, almost a year to the day since work officially commenced on the project.

The $2.1bn (£1.65bn/€2bn) project is being developed on the East Bank in Nashville, across from downtown and on the east side of the current Nissan Stadium campus. The stadium will have a capacity of 60,000, with the Titans pledging that the venue will be unlike any other facility in the world.

The stadium is now roughly one-third complete, with Titans project executive Kellen DeCoursey revealing that 850 workers are currently on site on a weekly basis. The peak number of workers will climb to 1,700.

By the end of 2025, DeCoursey said that fans should see a building that is “basically to the roof level”. The totality of the building and the structure will be at its final state at the end of 2025, but work on exterior elements such as windows, metal panes and more will then take place. Work on finishing the inside of the stadium will take place in 2026.

New Nissan Stadium will span 1.8 million square feet and will feature a circular-shaped, high-tech ETFE translucent roof and sightlines to the field that are 38% closer than the current stadium.

As well as Titans games, New Nissan Stadium will host Tennessee State college football games and community activities, while also targeting major events such as Super Bowls, NCAA Final Fours and College Football Playoffs. WWE’s WrestleMania is proposed to be the venue’s first major event, aside from the NFL, in its opening year.

The construction manager for the project is Tennessee Builders Alliance (TBA), made up of Nashville-based I.C.F. Builders, Brentwood-based Polk & Associates, Turner Construction Company and AECOM Hunt. The design team is led by architect of record TVS and lead design architect MANICA.

In November 2023, the Titans agreed a 20-year deal with Nissan North America for the automotive company to take on naming rights to the new stadium.

The current Nissan Stadium opened in 1999 and is due to be demolished in stages after the 2026 NFL season.

Last month, the Titans announced that the Mosh Pit, a dedicated section at New Nissan Stadium exclusively for diehard fans, has officially sold out. The Mosh Pit is intended to be the ultimate fan zone section of the stadium and will be located in the East Endzone.
