Everton will stage a series of special events over the coming months under the ‘Gwladys Street Presents’ banner to celebrate Goodison Park as the English Premier League club prepares to depart its long-term home for the state-of-the-art new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.
Everton has so far confirmed two ‘evening with’ shows that will be hosted on a giant stage on the Goodison Park pitch with former players on August 21 and October 16. Fans will have the chance to take in the shows from seats in the Howard Kendall Gwladys Street End of the ground.
Everton started work on its new 53,000-capacity stadium in August 2021 and the project is due for completion later this year before the club moves into the venue ahead of the 2025-26 season.
However, before then, the club said it is also working on plans to create more opportunities for supporters to watch live football at the stadium throughout the season, with more information to be communicated in due course.
Meanwhile, as part of an enhanced stadium tours offering, more ‘Legends Experiences’ are being lined up to give fans the chance to explore the stadium alongside famous names from Everton’s past throughout the 2024-25 campaign.
A new pitchside ‘Farewell Experience’ will also give supporters the opportunity to visit Goodison on non-matchdays while revamped Guided History Tours will run daily for those wanting to take in the stadium’s most storied areas and experience walking out of the tunnel to the iconic siren and Z-Cars theme tune.
Additionally, the club will release official publications capturing the history of Goodison Park, while a merchandise range inspired by the old stadium will be launched in the second half of the season.
As the campaign progresses, home matchdays will take on dedicated themes to mark memorable events of the past, while fans will get the chance to stay the night inside Goodison Park and raise funds for Everton in the Community in the process with a last-ever Goodison Sleepout on October 11.
The plans have been announced against the backdrop of positive news on the Everton takeover front.
AS Roma owner Dan Friedkin has been granted exclusivity by Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri to acquire a controlling 94.1% stake in the club, according to reports. A previous deal with investment group 777 Partners fell through after a period of exclusivity concluded without a final agreement being rubber-stamped.
